Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who was killed at a Rochester interchange on Tuesday.

Officers responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and SUV  at the intersection of 40th Street SE, Woodlake Dr. SE and the entrance ramp to northbound Hwy. 63/ South Broadway, which is near the Shoppes on Maine retail complex. 

The fatal collision was reported shortly after 11 a.m.

26-Year-Old Rochester Man ID'D as Victim of Fatal Motorcycle-SUV Collision at Hwy. 63 Interchange

On Wednesday, the Rochester Police Department identified the motorcyclist as 26-year-old Damon Saponari

The young man from Rochester was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

The driver of the SUV was not hurt. Their name has not been released. 

Investigation Continues

Rochester police indicate the deadly collision remains under investigation.

Officers closed the eastbound lanes of 40th St. SE for about two hours after the crash, to accommodate an investigation using the department's Forensic Mapping Unit.
