Father With Daughter Assaulted, Threatened With Gun at Rochester Apartment
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Three people were arrested in connection to an attack and gun threat reported at a Rochester apartment last week.
Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen said Monday that officers responded to the weapons call shortly before 4:45 p.m. at an apartment building in the 1400 block of 4th Ave. Southeast. The victim, described as a 30-year-old man, reported being confronted by three men while he and his 10-year-old daughter were walking in the building's stairwell.
Moilanen said the man told police he was playing rap music from a mobile speaker while walking with his daughter when they came upon the three men. The man reported the men began assaulting him after they made comments regarding the music he was playing.
The man reported fighting off the alleged assailants and returning to his apartment with his daughter, Moilanen said. The man said the alleged attackers then came to his apartment and began attempting to kick in the door. He reported opening the door at one point and saw one of the suspects pointing a gun at him.
Moilanen said officers got a description of the gun and suspects and found the men in a different apartment at the same building. Officers then executed a search warrant and reportedly found a handgun that matched the firearm described by the suspect. Moilanen identified the three alleged attackers as 34-year-old Shueb Noor of Rochester, 42-year-old Mohamed Omer of Rochester and 24-year-old Mohamed Ali of Rochester.
Officers identified Noor as the man who was alleged to have pointed the gun at the victim, Moilanen said. Police also reported finding Noor with 493 suspected M30 pills that are often laced with fentanyl.
Noor was booked into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center on Suspicion of 2nd-degree assault, 2nd-degree riot, second-degree drug possession, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Omer was booked on suspicion of 2nd-degree riot, fifth-degree assault, obstructing the legal process and disorderly conduct. Ali was jailed on suspicion of 2nd-degree riot, fifth-degree assault, and disorderly conduct.
Moilanen said the victim and the alleged attackers are not known to each other. The first court appearances in the case have not yet been scheduled.
