Washington, DC (KROC-AM News) - Efforts to bring more medical manufacturing jobs to Minnesota are getting a boost from the federal government.

The U.S. Commerce Department has announced the Minnesota Medical Manufacturing Partnership has been named one of 12 communities throughout the country to be designated under the Obama Administration’s Investing in Manufacturing Communities Partnership initiative. The program is designed to speed up a resurgence in manufacturing by supporting the development of long-term economic development strategies.

That support includes over $1 billion in federal economic development assistance.

The Mayo Clinic and Rochester Area Economic Development Incorporated are members of the Minnesota Medical Manufacturing Partnership.
