ELBOW LAKE, Minn. (AP) — The driver who died after crashing into a squad car while allegedly fleeing police in Otter Tail County has been identified as a Fergus Falls City Council member.

The Daily Journal reports that 62-year-old Timothy Rundquist died Monday night.

According to the State Patrol, a trooper initiated a traffic stop at about 5 p.m. Monday on Highway 54 near Elbow Lake, but the driver fled. Police used stop sticks, but the driver, identified as Rundquist, kept going.

The State Patrol says Rundquist drove about 11 miles then crashed head-on into a parked, unoccupied police squad car near Highway 59 and Interstate 94. Rundquist was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

No officers were injured.
