
Fire Breaks Out at University Square Building in Downtown Rochester, MN

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- There’s a large firefighter response at the University Square building in downtown Rochester.

Olmsted County scanner traffic indicates crews responded to the report of a fire shortly before 7:45 Wednesday morning. Preliminary reports indicate the fire may have started from the kitchen at Chester’s Restaurant.
Crews at the scene reported smoke throughout the building and reported smoke being seen coming from the vents at the top of the building that is in line with Chesters. The University of Minnesota Rochester building has been evacuated.
The Rochester Fire Marshall responded to the scene. Crews have closed South Broadway Ave. as they respond to the apparent fire. It's unknown if there are any injuries at this time.
