Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A home in northeast Rochester suffered extension damage from a fire last night.

The Rochester Fire Department says fire crews responded to the house at 1105 8th Avenue Northeast after receiving a report of a kitchen fire in the residence. The police officers, who were the first to arrive at the scene around 10 PM reported hearing crackling and seeing signs of an active fire inside.

The first firefighters at the scene were able to see smoke in various parts of the home and discovered an active fire on the first floor in the backside of the house. The news release on the incident says the majority of the flames were put out quickly but there was extensive fire damage to the kitchen and dining room area. A preliminary estimate put the damage at about $100,000.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
