(Wadena, MN)  MNN--  The City of Wadena is adding at least two more feet to the top of a large dike to try to hold back  flood waters, and while pumping has been extremely effective, city officials say ground water continues to seep up at an alarming rate.

Water is flowing overland toward Wadena from the southwest and is eroding the dike -- and Mayor Wayne Wolden says if the barrier were to break a wall of water would rush into and beyond Tapley Park and they felt that was not a risk worth taking.

Those who live in Wadena can still use water and sewer, but they are asked to  be conservative.

Red Cross has relocated their mobile unit to the new warming house shelter and their Disaster Services Mobile Unit is taking damage assessments at that location.  On Friday Wadena got 4.35 inches of rain within about three hours, on already saturated ground.
