Glenville, MN ( KROC AM News) - A Freeborn County man was airlifted to St Marys Hospital Tuesday after his pickup truck was struck by a train.

Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag says the incident occurred around 10:00 AM near Glenville.

Freitag says the train engineer told deputies they were traveling at about 35-40 mph and sounded the horn as they approached the crossing. The engineer thought the pickup was going to stop but it continued through the crossing. The engine struck the passenger side of the pickup and it was pushed about 60 to 75 feet before the train came to a stop.

The truck was driven by 72-year-old Gary Walstrom. He was reported in fair condition Wednesday morning.
