
Rochester Police Assist With Evacuation of Residents During Garage Fire
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A garage fire caused significant damage a Rochester home Thursday night.

That’s according to the Rochester Fire Department which responded to the blaze shortly before 9:15 p.m.
A news release says responding firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the home’s attached garage.

Fire Crews Fight Garage Fire in Northwest Rochester
The fire occurred in the 800 block of 44th Ave. NW. The Rochester Fire Department says the fire had caused the garage door to collapse on a vehicle parked inside of it.
Firefighters began extinguishing the garage fire and entered the home to prevent the flames from spreading further.
The fire department says the home was then ventilated and utilities were disconnected during the fire fight.
Rochester Police Assist With Evacuation of Occupants
While responding to the fire, crews learned that Rochester police had assisted with evacuating the occupants using the stairs on the home’s back deck, officials say.
Firefighters conducted a search of the residence and confirmed no one was inside. No injuries were reported.
Officials say the fire caused extensive damage to the garage and moderate smoke damage in the home.The Fire Marshals Division responded to document the scene.

The cause of the fire is not available. Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Minnesota Energy, Rochester Public Utilities and the American Red Cross also responded to the fire.
