Pain at the Pump: Triple A Reveals the City with the Highest Gas Prices in Minnesota
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A new fuel forecast issued by Triple-A is revealing which Minnesota metropolitan area has the highest gas prices in all of the state.

As of October 28, the average price for a gallon of unleaded in Minnesota is $3.05.
That’s up four cents from last week but down from $3.39 at this time last year and below the national average of $3.31, according to Triple-A.
A Triple-A news release indicates relief at the pump is expected as the falls transitions into winter. Spokesperson Brynna Knapp says an upcoming anticipated shift in demand will lead to lower prices at the pump.
Triple A: Rochester Area Has Highest Gas Prices in All of Minnesota
Triple-A’s measurement of average gas prices across Minnesota’s metropolitan areas indicates the Rochester area sees the highest gas prices across the state.
Motorists filling up in the Rochester area are paying an average of $3.16 per gallon. Mankato has the next highest average at $3.09 per gallon.
Drivers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro pay an average of $3.08 per gallon, a gallon of gas in Moorhead is averaging $3.02 per gallon.
The St. Cloud and Duluth areas are the only major population centers in the state seeing an average price per gallon of under $3, coming in at $2.99 and $2.97 respectively.
Motorists in Rochester do not have to go far to shell out less money to fill up. Triple A says the average cost for a gallon of gas in neighboring Winona County is $2.91 and a gallon in Mower County is selling for an average price of $2.90.
Triple A does offer some advice to help motorists stretch their fuel dollars. Officials recommend combining errands, shopping around for stations offering the lowest prices, reducing excess weight in the vehicle and driving conservatively.
