Most of Saturday is forecast to be relatively mild in the Rochester area, but the National Weather Service says a storm system that will move across the Upper Mississippi River Valley over the weekend is expected to bring slick conditions to the region and deliver a blast of arctic air by early Sunday.

At this point, forecasters say southeastern Minnesota will probably see an inch or two of snow, and possibly some freezing drizzle late Saturday and into Sunday morning. Blowing and drifting snow could become a problem in open areas as the storm produces gusty winds and pulls bitterly cold air into the region.

The National Weather Service says overnight lows will drop into the teens below zero with wind chills of 35 to 40 below early next week.
