Goodhue County Investigating Deadly Fishing Mishap
Welch, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the St. Paul man who lost his life yesterday while fishing along the Cannon River near Welch.
A statement from the Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Mor Gelay apparently drowned when he fell into the water and was carried away by the fast-moving current. The deadly incident occurred just after 11:30 am and the man’s body was recovered about an hour and a half later after he was spotted about a mile downstream by some people canoeing on the river.
KSTP-TV is reporting Gelay was a refugee from Myanmar and is survived by six children.
