Gophers Go For Mariucci Classic Title Tonight

Minneapolis, MN (Learfield sports)  --  Hudson Faching's ninth goal of the season was the game-winner as the Minnesota Golden Gophers edged Connecticut in the first round of the 25th annual Mariucci Classic 3-2.

The Gophers take on Harvard tonight at 7:00 P-M for the title. Harvard rolled over Ferris State 7-3.

Connecticut scored first, but the Gophers answered with a pair of second-period goals just 23 seconds apart.  Thirty-one seconds after the Huskies tied the score in the third period, Fasching fired home the game-winner.  Minnesota evened its record at 8-8 with the win.
