It could be the 2014 version of the Armistice Day blizzard in Minnesota,  although an approaching storm is expected to begin impacting the state the day before Veterans Day.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the southern half of the state that will take effect Monday morning and continue into Tuesday.

The storm could dump several inches of snow before it ends.

The heaviest snow is expected between 9 a.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday. The highest totals are expected north of I-90.

Frigid weather will move in after the storm. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing late Sunday and remain there for several days.

High temps in this part of the state next week are expected to be only in the 20’s and lows between 10 and 15.  Normally, high temps this time of the year are in the upper 40’s and lows around 30.
