Guilty Plea From Man Charged After Major Drug Bust in Lake City

Wabasha, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Lake City man has worked out a deal with Wabasha County prosecutors to avoid a prison sentence in a drug case that involved the seizure of about $80,000 in cash.
Under the terms of the deal, 24-year-old Noah Gernes entered a guilty plea to a charge of second-degree drug sales in exchange for the dismissal of a first-degree charge and a third-degree drug charge. The plea agreement, calls for a stayed prison sentence of just under five years, five years on probation, and a maximum of four months in jail.
Gernes was charged last November after Wabasha County Sheriff's Deputies executed a search warrant at an apartment in Lake City and found the cash along with over a pound of hallucinogenic mushrooms. Investigators also seized an estimated 11 pounds of suspected marijuana and marijuana wax, along with an undisclosed amount of ecstasy laced with fentanyl.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 30.
