ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A teenage driver has admitted to texting before slamming into a van and killing a father and his 10-year-old daughter in Sherburne County.

The 17-year-old girl pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide as charged in a juvenile petition. Prosecutors say the teen ignored her friend's plea to stop texting and driving before the July crash that killed Charles Maurer and his daughter, Cassy.

The Little Falls teen and three passengers in her pickup were injured as were two others in Maurer's van. The girl initially told authorities her boyfriend was driving the truck.

The Star Tribune says the teen is scheduled for sentencing next month.
