Hagedorn Applauds Agreement Between Mayo Clinic and VA
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Minnesota First District Congressman Jim Hagedorn says he is pleased with the agreement reached between Mayo Clinic Health System and the Minneapolis VA Health Care System.
The agreement calls for joint participation in the community care program enacted under the MISSION Act. The contract takes effect on August 1st and includes the following services: Behavioral Health, Professional Services, Dialysis, General Acute Care, Home Health, Hospice, Critical Access and Rural Health Clinic.
Hagedorn says the services will be offered through Mayo’s Health System and not at its Rochester campus. Hagedorn says he has been working on getting the agreement approved since he was elected to Congress.
The MISSION Act gives veterans greater access to health care in VA facilities and the community, expands benefits for caregivers, and improves VA's ability to recruit and retain the best medical providers.
Hagedorn released this statement about the agreement:
"This is exciting news for our veterans and their families. I appreciate the work of the dedicated individuals at the VA and Mayo Clinic to develop a reasonable solution that will improve access to high quality medical care and quality of life for veterans across Minnesota, especially in rural communities. Our military heroes deserve and have earned timely and convenient access to the finest care our nation has to offer. Mayo’s participation in the community care program represents a major step forward for our veterans."
