Southeast Minnesota Man Sentenced in Federal Child Pornography Production Case

Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- A federal judge has sentenced a southeast Minnesota man for his conviction in a child pornography case.

29-year-old Hunter James Geidl was indicted in December of 2024 with three counts of production and attempted production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

The indictment was the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI and Hastings Police Department.

Federal court documents say Geidl used and employed minor victims to engage in sexually explicit content to produce pornographic images and videos from July 29, 2022, until March 22, 2024.

The indictment also alleged that Geidl  knowingly possessed a video file depicting a minor engaging in sexually explicit activities.

A news release issued on Monday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota says Geidl was sentenced to 198 month in prison. The time behind bars will be followed by 10 years of supervised release. 

"The sentence imposed on Mr. Geidl should send a strong message about our work to bring to justice those who prey on America's kids,” said Richard Evanchec, the Interim Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office. 

In announcing the indictment, federal prosecutors indicated investigators believed Geidl had additional victims. Monday’s news release says authorities are still seeking information about more possible victims.
