
Here’s What NOAA Says February, March & April Will Look Like
As our second straight snow-less winter rolls on, the NOAA and the National Weather Service say that could change beginning in February.
So far in the winter of 2024-2025, the southern half of Minnesota is about a foot of snowfall below average. Other than a few inches right before Christmas, it seems like its been nothing but occasional flurries.
It's even worse around Duluth, where the seasonal snowfall deficit is approaching two feet.

The temperatures this winter, they've been closer to where we should be. December was a couple of degrees above average, and January has been a couple of degrees below normal, so we've been close.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, we are officially in the midst of a La Nina pattern, albeit a relatively weak one.
The Temperature Forecast
Our 2024-2025 winter temperature trends appears to continue with normal to slightly below normal temps to show up on Minnesota thermometers.
The Precipitation Forecast
Much like the temperature outlook for the next three months, NOAA is calling for normal to slightly above normal precipitation over the period. However, forecasters have been talking about the chance for a snowier pattern for February.
Let's use Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport as a mid-state location to take a look at what the averages should look like over the next three months.
MSP Weather Averages for February, March, and April
- February: Average high 29. Average low 13. Average snow: 10".
- March: Average high 42. Average low 25. Average snow: 8".
- April: Average high 57. Average low 38. Average snow: 4".
Wanna think a little summer? The average high at MSP in June is 79, in July its 83, and in August it tops out at 81. "Mom, its too hot."
