Olmsted County Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Behrns says a patrol deputy tried to stop a speeding motorist around midnight on Highway 52 near 85th St. Instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated.

The chase lasted several minutes and ended up on 41st St NW where the driver went through the intersection at West River Parkway and drove onto a dead-end service road leading into the treatment plant.

Behrns says a deputy was able to perform a maneuver and forced the driver to crash into a pile of debris. He was not hurt.

Behrns says deputies smelled alcohol on the man’s breath and found an open container in his vehicle. Arrested was 24-year-old Forest Fitch of Robbinsdale. He is facing multiple charges.
