Rochester woman arraigned on multiple charges

Police called to Rochester recovery house after knife report
According to the charges, Rochester police officers were dispatched to Gables Recovery House in southwest Rochester around 9:25 p.m. Friday in response to a report of a woman with a knife. A responding officer reported finding a staff member in a basement room with the door closed.

Complaint details alleged threats against treatment facility staff
The criminal complaint says the staff member told officers she was conducting room checks when Stoopes accused her of spying on her. Stoopes allegedly followed the staff member into the basement and approached her while holding something behind her back. Stoopes then allegedly threatened to kill the staff member and pulled out a knife, which was later determined to be a butter knife.
The complaint says Stoopes is accused of advancing toward the staff member while holding the knife and repeatedly threatening to kill her. The staff member eventually retreated into a room and closed the door.

Alleged Threats Against SecondStaff Member
The charges also allege that Stoopes confronted another woman who was calling police and demanded that she hand over her phone while threatening her with the knife. Stoopes was also accused of taking the woman’s work keys and following her with the knife after the woman left the basement and instructed other residents to go into their rooms.
Subdued With Taser
When Rochester police arrived, the complaint says Stoopes was still holding the butter knife. The arresting officers reported that they used a Taser after Stoopes refused to drop the knife and walked away from them.
