Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A young girl and Rochester man are fighting for their lives following a crash on Hwy. 14 in Olmsted County Wednesday evening.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision. The State Patrol responded to the crash shortly after 6 p.m. 

First responders were dispatched to the crash between the eastern edge of Rochester and Chester Woods Park. The critically injured occupants were in separate vehicles.

8-Year-Old Girl Among Two Rochester Residents to Suffer Life-Threatening Injuries in Hwy. 14 Crash

An eastbound Nissan SUV collided with a westbound GMC SUV, the state crash report says. 

An 8-year-old Rochester girl riding in the GMC was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her name has not been released.

43-year-old Colleen Jennifer Ronningen of Rochester was driving the GMC SUV. Ronningen and a 12-year-old girl from Rochester also riding with her suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were also brought to St. Mary’s for further care. The 12-year-old’s name has not been released.

36-year-old Kevin Douangmychit was the lone occupant of the eastbound SUV. The Rochester man, who suffered what are being described as life-threatening injuries, was also transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. 

Snow and ice were present on the two-lane road when the crash occurred, the State Patrol says. Everyone was buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the crash, according to the state crash report. 

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance and the Rochester Fire Department also responded to the two-vehicle collision.
