MnDOT says signs will be in place to mark the official detour route.

Eyota, MN (KROC-AM News)- A closure and detour is planned for a part of a state highway in Olmsted County next week.

A news release issued by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says traffic will be detoured during the work. 

Officials expect the road closure to last less than 24 hours. The closure is to accommodate repairs at a railroad crossing.

Hwy. 42 Railroad Crossing in Eyota, MN to Close Next Week, Detour Planned

The rail crossing scheduled for repairs is on Hwy. 42 on the western edge of Eyota, about a mile south of the Hwy. 14 roundabout. 

Hwy. 42 in Eyota is scheduled to close by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15 and reopen by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16. 

Hwy. 42 traffic will be routed onto Hwy. 14, then to Olmsted County Rd. 7 through Eyota before rejoining Hwy. 42. MnDOT says signs will be in place to mark the official detour route. 

Canadian Pacific Railway crews will be conducting the repairs at the crossing.
