How Many Tornadoes Touched Down In Minnesota This Year?

The Minnesota State Climatology Office just shared a recap of tornado season in Minnesota. According to their facts, it was a pretty mild tornado season.
This was a far cry from the rest of the country, with headline-making storms and tornadoes making this tornado season the second largest since 2011.
So how many tornadoes did Minnesota see in 2024? The answer might surprise you.
According to the Minnesota State Climatology Office, Minnesota saw around forty-one tornadoes. This was just a few less than the year prior in 2023.

Believe it or not, there were even some in the northern part of the state. This tornado season was 'fairly quiet' compared to average, which is good news.
These tornadoes were tracked between May and September. We will have to wait and see how tornado season shapes up for 2025. We have to get through a very long winter season first.
