Preston, MN (KROC-AM News) - A woman who tested positive for alcohol and marijuana following a deadly traffic crash last year in Fillmore County has been sentenced to four years in prison. 56-year-old Cindy Mueske, who now has an Eyota address, entered a guilty plea to a criminal vehicular homicide charge in May through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of six other felony counts and 10 misdemeanor charges.

Mueske, who had an Illinois address at the time, was behind the wheel of a pickup that crashed, head-on, into a car on Highway 52 between Chatfield and Fountain the night of January 28, 2016. The other driver, 16-year-old Kaitlyn Hansen of Canton, was killed in the wreck.

The criminal complaint against Mueske says she was going at least 84 miles per hour when the crash occurred, and tests administered after the deadly collision estimated her blood-alcohol-concentration was between .08 and 15. The tests also detected marijuana in her system.

Fillmore County Judge Matthew Opat also ordered to Mueske to pay restitution to Hansen’s family, but the amount has yet to be determined.
