Rochester Man Faces New Charges in Child Pornography Case

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An investigation by Rochester police has led to additional charges against a Rochester man who was charged earlier this year in a child pornography case.

New Charges Filed Against Rochester Man

A new criminal complaint was filed in Olmsted County court last week against 23-year-old Kyle Andrew Sandmeyer. It lists charges of distributing via electronic communication material that relates to or describes sexual conduct with a child, engaging in electronic communications relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child, and solicitation of a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct.

Case Involves 12-Year-Old Fillmore County Girl

According to the charges, Sandmeyer is accused of exchanging sexually explicit images with a 12-year-old Fillmore County girl. Court documents say Sandmeyer told investigators that he met the victim in January and then began communicating with her through Snapchat. It is alleged that the child sent Sandmeyer sexually explicit images approximately nine times between January and May of this year.

Earlier Case Involved 17-Year-Old Girl

The charges against the Rochester man stem from an investigation that resulted in similar charges being filed against him in May of this year involving a 17-year-old girl. In that case, Sandmeyer is charged with using minors in pornographic work and possession of pornographic work.

It is alleged that Sandmeyer would send the juvenile girl money in exchange for sexually explicit photos of herself. The court document alleges Sandmeyer sent the girl money on three occasions.

Sexual Assault Allegations

He is also charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Court documents say he is accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman multiple times in April of this year. The victim in that case told police that she did not consent to having sex with Sandmeyer while she was intoxicated.
