Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - While over 400,000 Minnesotans have already cast absentee ballots, many voters will be reporting to the polls today to participate in the state's primary election.

The polls open at 7 AM with races for Rochester City Council Presidents and three other City Council seats on the ballot. Local voters are also being asked to narrow the field of candidates for one position on the Olmsted County Board.

Rochester voters are encouraged to double-check on the location of their polling places before heading out to cast their ballots. Election officials have consolidated and relocated a number of polling places because of the pandemic, which has reduced the total in the city from 46 to 37. Information about where to vote can be found on the city's election website.

The polls will remain open until 8 PM, but voters are being told not to expect results tonight or tomorrow. Absentee ballots will be accepted and counted if they are postmarked on election day and received during the next two days.
