Minnesota Overdose Death Leads to Long Federal Prison Sentences
St. Paul, MN (MinnesotaNow) - Two men have been handed lengthy federal prison sentences for convictions stemming from a deadly drug overdose on the Mille Lacs Reservation in Minnesota two years ago.
The Office of the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota says 48-year-old Dimitric Timopkin Wilson was found guilty of one count each of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, and distributing fentanyl while on pretrial release. A news release says he was previously convicted in Michigan for conspiracy to distribute heroin.

Fifty-one-year-old Allen Lee Godwin entered a guilty plea to a charge of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death.
Investigation Spanned Multiple States
Federal prosecutors presented evidence at Wilson’s trial showing he acquired fentanyl in Detroit and brought it to Minnesota and Wisconsin for distribution by others, including Godwin. Goodwin was accused of selling fentanyl to a 38-year-old Minnesota man who died of an overdose in July 2023.
Wilson was sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison for his convictions, while Godwin was ordered to serve 10 years behind bars.
Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies Were Involved in the Investigation
The Office of the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota says the convictions and sentences resulted from an investigation conducted by the FBI, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department, the East Central Drug Task Force, and law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin.
