Real Estate Scam Reported In Minnesota
Sigh. I know firsthand how tough the real estate market is right now so it makes sense why scammers are targeting those on the house hunt. However, this scam is still awful.
For Sale? Maybe Not
I saw this post by a local Sheriff's office in Minnesota on Facebook and I was absolutely shocked that people could be so brazen! This was reported just a few days ago by the Todd County Minnesota Sheriff's Office.
They are warning Minnesotans about a rare and unique scam that has been reported as of late and if you're in the market to rent or even buy, be on the lookout for sure.
Fake Rent Or Buy Ads
According to this warning, a scammer recently listed a resident's property for sale online. When someone inquired, the resident said they weren't selling and did not post anything of that nature online.

Sadly, a scammer made a fake email account and impersonated the property owners. They were even communicating with realtor companies posing as the property owners, which is nuts.
What Happens Now?
Thankfully, this scam hasn't hit the Northland but it's always good to be aware of scams going on in the state so you never fall victim to them. How would someone know that an ad for a piece of land was fake?

As always, be careful when making a large payment and be cautious of what you see online. There is so much fake content out there that it is always better to use caution and save yourself some trouble. Sigh.
