The Rice County Attorney’s Office, along with the U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. Department of Justice, extradited Jesus Daniel Parra Pitre, 29, from Panama, after he fled the country to avoid prosecution for attempting to murder his estranged wife on November 21st, 2024.

Parra Pitre is also charged with two counts of felony assault with a dangerous weapon and attempted false imprisonment stemming from the same incident.

At the bail hearing on January 23rd, 2025, Judge Jeffrey M. Johnson set bail for Parra Pitre at $1 million with no conditions and issued a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order.

In her statement to law enforcement, the victim stated that Parra Pitre asked her to meet him at South Alexander Park, in the city of Faribault. The victim met with Parra Pitre in his vehicle. The two talked for a period of time, but when the victim tried to get out of the vehicle Parra Pitre became angry and pulled out a gun.

Parra Pitre fired the gun toward the victim’s legs and began hitting her in the head and face with the firearm and his fist. Despite the attack, the victim was able to escape the vehicle and attempt to seek help. Parra Pitre followed her outside the car and verbally threatened to kill her and himself.

Eventually, the victim was able to get to her car, leave the park and call police.

Officers reported the victim was visibly shaken and had fresh and dried blood on the left side of her face and jacket. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

The Faribault Police Department attempted to locate Parra Pitre. Investigators observed blood and spent shell casings on the ground in the parking lot of South Alexander Park.

Parra Pitre’s vehicle was found abandoned a short distance from the park.  Inside the vehicle, officers observed a “substantial amount of blood” on the passenger’s seat and a bullet hole under the glove compartment. Officers located a loaded firearm under the passenger’s seat and a cell phone in the backseat.

A forensic examination of the phone showed numerous searches related to firearms, silencers, deleting social media accounts, extradition from other countries and prison sentences for murder.

Parra Pitre remained at large until he was apprehended in Panama. His next court date is on February 5th.
