
Rochester Wants Your Honest Opinion About Life in the Med City
If you've ever wanted to sound off on what the city of Rochester is doing well-- or isn't doing well-- now's the chance to make your voice heard.
As we know, Minnesota's Med City is the third-largest city in the entire state of Minnesota and is the largest city outside the Twin Cities metro. And several national surveys have routinely listed Rochester as one of the best places to live in the country:
Rochester Ranks Among the Best Places to Live in America
Niche's 2026 Best Places to Live rankings put Rochester, Minnesota, at No. 46 among the 229 best cities to live in America, putting us in the top 20 percent nationally on Niche's city ranking.

Meanwhile, Rochester was ranked No. 72 in U.S. News & World Report's 2026–2027 Best Places to Live in the U.S. That survey looked at over 850 cities and published the top 250, and was based on factors like affordability, job market, quality of life, and desirability. Rochester was one of eight Minnesota cities to make the list.
Livability also currently lists Rochester among its 2026 Top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S., and its Rochester profile specifically identifies the city as a 2026 Top 100 community. Rochester Residents Can Rate Quality of Life and City Services
That's the question the city of Rochester would like the answer to, and they've just opened a new survey for you to let city leaders know what you think is working and which things might need a little work.
According to a news release, the city of Rochester’s 2026 National Community Survey (NCS) is now open to all Rochester residents, which provides the perfect opportunity to share feedback about our community and city services.
The release says the survey asks residents to rate quality of life in Rochester and the performance of city services. The results of the survey will help identify strengths, highlight opportunities for improvement, and guide city decisions in the future, the city said.
How to Take Rochester's 2026 National Community Survey
Rochester residents can participate in the 2026 National Community Survey online HERE.
The survey will be open through September 7th. The city said it takes part in that survey every two years to gather feedback from residents about the quality of life and local government services. Results help city leaders identify what's working well and where services can be improved.
