Kasson Man Admits to Sexually Assaulting Young Girl
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM) - A Kasson man has entered into a plea agreement and has been given a stayed prison sentence for sexually assaulting a young girl.
21-year-old Carter Swarthout admitted to a second degree criminal sexual conduct charge, while Olmsted County prosecutors dropped a 1st degree charge.
He was placed on probation for 25 years and was also ordered to serve 45 days in jail.
The investigation that resulted in the charges against Swarthout was launched in July 2015 after the girl’s father went to authorities and alleged that his daughter had been sexually assaulted by him.
The criminal complaint states the victim told investigators that Swarthout convinced her to accompany him into her bedroom, where he assaulted her.
