Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - There has been no slowing down of speeders in Olmsted County so far this month.

In fact, tickets given to motorists caught driving 80 mph or faster have been averaging more than two per day.

Olmsted County court records show 22 of the tickets were reported during the first week and 29 more were turned in during the second week of the month.

The breakdown shows 36 motorists have been given a ticket for driving 80 to 89 mph so far this month. Thirteen have been caught driving 90 - 99 mph and two have been clocked at over 100 mph.

The highest speedster ticketed so far was a Lake City man who was clocked driving at 108 mph.

A Rochester police officer stopped the 2010 Crown Victoria driven by 20-year-old Layne Brayton around 2:30 am last Sunday on Highway 52 near Hillcrest Shopping Center. That’s a 60 mph zone.

A Minneapolis man was caught driving 105 mph on I-90 near Marion on Easter Sunday.

A Texas motorist caught driving 95 mph in a 65 zone last October entered a guilty plea in Olmsted County Court last Friday and was assessed $290 in fines and fees.
