Large Apartment Project Proposed For Rochester YMCA Site
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A real estate investment firm headquartered in North Dakota has decided to enter the Rochester market by proposing a large downtown project.
The firm, Enclave, has entered into a purchase and sale agreement with the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities to acquire the former YMCA property on the south edge of downtown Rochester next to Soldiers Field Memorial Park. The company is proposing a seven-story, nearly 220-unit, multi-family residential project at the site.
Enclave Spokesman Patrick Brama says the existing YMCA building would be completely demolished to make way for a facility that would include three separate rooftop/terrace common areas, an on-site fitness and yoga studio, an indoor game room, and a small convenience market included on a list of amenities. He says a formal timeline for the development has not been established and renderings of the proposed building won't be ready to be shared with the public until a neighborhood meeting later this month.
Enclave has completed more than 100 developments across the Midwest and eight of them are in Minnesota. The investment group's first project in Minnesota was launched in 2019 in Shakopee.
According to the City of Rochester website, the neighborhood meeting on the proposed development will be held on the evening of February 23 at Zumbro Lutheran Church.
