Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News)  - The 2016 southeastern Minnesota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics will take place on Wednesday.

The annual procession is scheduled to begin at 7:15 in the morning, starting at the flagpole outside the Law Enforcement Center at the Government Building in downtown Rochester. Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson and a group of Rochester area Special Olympic athletes will carry the torch at the beginning of the journey.

Law enforcement officers from several law enforcement agencies will participate by running, biking and rollerblading along Highway 52 to Zumbrota, and then over to Lake City, and Red Wing, with Hastings the final destination.

The total distance traveled will be 77 miles to raise funds for and awareness of the Minnesota Special Olympics.
