If you're looking to get out of Minnesota, another major airline is making it easier for you, as they just added new direct flights to Europe leaving from the North Star State.

While it may still be early fall, this major international airline is already thinking ahead to next year's summer travel season and has added several direct flights from the Land of 10,000 Lakes to Germany.

The popular German-based airline, Lufthansa, announced yesterday that it will be adding several direct flights to Frankfurt, Germany leaving from the Twin Cities, beginning next summer.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) broke the news on their X (formerly Twitter) page yesterday, saying:

Lufthansa announces its first-ever flights from the Twin Cities with the launch of year-round service between MSP and Frankfurt beginning June 4, 2024. Aboard the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, locals will find numerous connections to Germany, Europe and beyond.

The travel site, Thrifty Traveler, noted that the new Luthansa route from MSP to Frankfurt (FRA) will be offered five days a week, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, using the following schedule:

  • Flights from Minneapolis (MSP) to Frankfurt (FRA) depart at 3:15 p.m. and arrive at 6:40 a.m.
  • Flights from Frankfurt (FRA) to Minneapolis (MSP) depart at 11:10 a.m. and arrive in Minneapolis at 1:15 p.m

Thrifty Traveler also noted that in addition to the new flights from Minneapolis, Lufthansa is also adding direct flights to Frankfurt from Raleigh-Durham International Airport beginning next summer as well.
