Pine River, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating a fire that claimed the lives of two Minnesotans early Tuesday morning.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the report of a fire in rural Pine River, which is about 35 miles northwest of Brainerd. The fire report came in shortly after 2 a.m.

Deputies and first responders found the home fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. The man and woman living inside of the home were unaccounted for.

Emergency responders searched the home and found their remains. Their bodies have been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. 

The house was deemed a total loss. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the deadly fire.
