Man Arrested After Attempted Break In at NW Rochester Home
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester homeowner was given a good scare early Sunday morning when a man described by Rochester police as "under the influence of something" tried to break into his home.
Police Captain Casey Moilanen says the homeowner called 911 around four in the morning and officers were sent to the residence in the 400 block of 19th Street Northwest. He says the responding officers described the homeowner as appearing "shaken" by the incident.
He described how he had been sleeping when he heard the doorbell and found a man he did not know pounding on the front door. The man refused to go away and kicked out some glass panels on the door before shattering the glass windows on the home's garage door and smashing the mailbox.
The officers sent to investigate located the 34-year-old man nearby and took him into custody.
