Man Charged With Assault After Pointing Gun at Woman in Dover
Dover, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Olmsted County man has been charged with pointing a gun at a woman during a domestic assault Friday afternoon.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court, Olmsted County deputies responded to a residence in Dover around 5:20 PM on Friday and spoke with a woman who reported that 38-year-old Justin Jeffrey Peterson had pointed a handgun at her. The charges indicate the woman told the deputies that Peterson approached her wearing a black fanny pack and pulled a black handgun from it, pointed the weapon at her, and ordered her to get in a corner.
The criminal complaint states that the deputy found a fanny pack on Pearson that contained a black handgun. It have a loaded magazine and the Fanny pack also contained a second magazine loaded with five bullets.
According to the charges, Peterson gave a statement to a deputy during which he admitted pointing the handgun at the victim. The document also says Peterson reported recent methamphetamine use.
He has been charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor counts of intentionally pointing a gun and domestic assault.
