A former Rochester man who was involved in a brutal assault in the city several years ago will soon be doing time at a state prison.  23 year old Howard Risher and another man were convicted in the 2008 attack on Joseph Geike, who nearly died.  The RCTC football player lost his eyesight and was left with other permanent injuries that required 24 hour care.  Risher was placed on probation for 20 years and ordered to pay restitution of more than $80,000. He later moved to Houston, Texas.

He violated his probation last year for failing to pay restitution and another violation was reported in February.  Swisher admitted to that violation and was sentenced Tuesday to 7 years in prison.  Police say the assault on Geike took place after he demanded the return of a stolen cellphone.
