Manhunt for Rochester Man Ends Peacefully
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man wanted in connection with a shooting last night in the Mazeppa area was captured this afternoon in a rural area north of Rochester.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement this afternoon indicating 37-year-old Aaron Michael Anderson was taken into custody around 2:45 pm after he was located near a residence in the 2400 block of 105th Street Northeast, which is along Highway 63 about a mile south of Reinke’s corner. The Sheriff’s Department says Anderson attempted to flee on an ATV, but the deputies and other officers involved in the search were able to track him down about two miles to the north, where he surrendered peacefully.
Anderson, who was described by law enforcement officials as a habitual criminal, is accused of firing a gun near or at another person at a rural property in Wabasha County last night. No one was hurt during the incident.
He was also wanted on drug and vehicle theft warrants issued by Olmsted County authorities last Friday. His criminal history includes narcotics offenses, motor vehicle thefts, and fleeing law enforcement on foot and the human vehicles.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department officials earlier indicated Anderson made threatening statements to both the victim and law enforcement during the incident near Mazeppa last night and he was considered “in a dangerous state of mind and should not be approached.”
