Minnesota Abortions Increase Second Straight Year
St. Paul, MN (Learfield News Service) - An annual report from the Minnesota Department of Health shows abortions are up for the second straight year in the state.
A total of 10,177 abortions were performed in Minnesota in 2017 - a three-percent increase from 2015.
Scott Fischbach with Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life says the number of taxpayer-funded abortions continues to increase, and those women who are a having a repeat abortion continues to increase as well. Jen Auwles of Planned Parenthood responds the number of women from out-of-state having abortions in Minnesota is increasing because of "incredibly restrictive" laws in states like Iowa, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
The number of minor abortions fell from 292 in 2016 to 248 last year.
