
Two Lives Lost in Minnesota Drownings Over Holiday Weekend
Undated (MinnesotaNow)- Two people lost their lives in drownings over the long Independence Day weekend in Minnesota.

The drowning total is as of Sunday night. One man lost his life on Friday and the other died on the 4th of July.

Two Lives Lost in Drownings on Minnesota Lakes Friday and Saturday
Authorities in northern Minnesota responded to the weekend’s first drowning around 5:00 Friday afternoon.
The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says deputies took the report of a man entering the water after getting out of a boat on Movil Lake, which is about 12 miles north of Bemidji.
Preliminary reports indicated the man was submerged.
First responders found an object believed to be the man’s body about 30 minutes after arriving at the scene, but had to evacuate the lake due to incoming severe weather.
After the storm blew through, a dive team pulled the man’s body from the lake around 8:30 p.m. The apparent drowning victim was transported to a funeral home for an autopsy.
His name has not yet been released.
Man Drowns on Lake Ann in Chanhassen
In Chanhassen, first responders were called to Lake Ann on the report of a man going underwater and not resurfacing.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office says a water search was launched around 7:20 p.m., resulting in the closure of the lake.
His body was recovered around 10:00 Saturday night. Authorities say the fatal incident is under investigation.
The man’s name has not yet been released.
