Minnesota Hunter Hospitalized Following Shooting
Stillwater, MN (KROC-AM News)- An apparent hunting accident near the Twin Cities sent one man to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
A news release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a property in Baytown Township, which is just southwest of Stillwater, on the report of a shooting. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after being called around 1:30 p.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates one hunter mistakenly identified another member of their hunting party as a turkey and fired a shot. The hunter hit by the gunfire, described as a 54-year-old Arden Hills man, was brought to a hospital.
His injuries were described as non-life-threatening. Officials say the shooter, described as a 48-year-old Excelsior man, is cooperating with the investigation.
The DNR and Washington County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting. No further information is being released at this time.
