Minnesota Intersection Crash Sends Man & Woman to Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester
Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- A two-vehicle crash at an Olmsted County intersection sent an elderly woman and elderly man to the hospital Thursday evening.
It occurred after 5:15 p.m. The crash involved a sedan and SUV.
The State Patrol responded to the crash at the intersection of Hwy. 63 and 9th St. Southeast in southern Stewartville. The crash report indicates both the car and SUV were traveling south when they collided.
81-year-old Ervin Hans Schmidt of Stewartville was identified as the car driver. The SUV was driven by 84-year-old Caryl Lee Sharp of Spring Valley, the report says.
Schmidt and Sharp were both taken from the crash scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. The Spring Valley Man and Stewartville woman both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The report says both drivers were buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the two-vehicle collision. Hwy. 63 was described as wet at the time of the crash.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service and the Stewartville Fire Department also responded to the two-vehicle collision.
