Minnesota Jail Reports 6 Inmates Sickened from Drug Overdoses

Little Falls, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating a series of suspected drug overdoses that sickened six inmates at a central Minnesota jail.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office says jail staff members were alerted to an unresponsive male in the jail’s housing unit shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday. Staff called for backup once they discovered the unresponsive inmate. 

A news release says five other inmates began showing symptoms of a drug overdose as first responders treated the unresponsive man. Officials say all six of the inmates were in the same housing unit.

Emergency responders administered Narcan to five of the inmates. All six of the inmates were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment before being cleared and returned to the Morrison County Jail.

Morrison County Sheriff John Larson says his office has started an investigation and has alerted the Minnesota Department of Corrections to the overdoses.
