The North Star State has had a thriving craft beer and cocktail scene for several years now. I've often said how much my wife and I enjoy heading to one of those great craft breweries to sample their unique beers. And recently, we've also really enjoyed getting to try some of the unique spirits made at one of Minnesota's craft distilleries, as well.

While there aren't as many local distilleries as craft breweries here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, there are still some great places making some really incredible spirits.

The Minnesota Distillers Guild has been representing local distillers in our fair state since 2012, and recently estimated that there are around 30 distilleries across the state producing craft spirits that you can find at their locations, as well as at Minnesota liquor stores, bars, cocktail rooms, and restaurants.

And one of them just produced a vodka that was just ranked as the very best in the U.S., according to the 2026 Newsweek Readers' Choice Awards. That honor goes to Prairie Organic Vodka, which is produced by Prairie Organic Spirits in Princeton and is one of the brands owned by Phillips Distilling.

According to Newseek, here's why Prairie Organic Vodka took the top spot-- and beat out other big names like Tito's Handmade Vodka, Grey Goose, Absolut, and more:
