Minnesota’s Heggies Pizza Just Unveiled An Awesome New Flavor

It's been a classic here in Minnesota for over 30 years, and now Heggies Pizza just unveiled an incredible new flavor of frozen pizza.

Before we go much further, full disclosure: I'm a huge pizza fan. I love it. In fact, pizza is likely my FAVORITE food, the one I could probably eat every day and not get sick of-- mainly because there are so many different kinds.

As a food, pizza has been around for... oh, a few thousand years. The History Channel notes pizza 'evolved from similar flatbread dishes in Naples, Italy, between the 16th and mid-18th century.' The modern pizza we know today gained popularity after World War II, it said.

Here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, my favorite frozen pizza is Heggies Pizza, which is made in Milaca, Minnesota, about a little over an hour north of the Twin Cities. It was founded by Don and Polly Hegedus in their garage in Onamia, Minnesota back in 1989. Current owner Shawn Dokter bought Heggies when Don and Polly retired in 2004 and expanded the business to its current facility in 2008.

And, now in 2025, Heggies just unveiled an incredible new variety of their frozen pies. According to the website, Heggies currently makes the following varieties, which can be found in bars and grocery stores across Minnesota, Iowa and the Dakotas:

• Sausage
• Pepperoni
• Sausage and Pepperoni
• Sausage and Mushroom
• Inferno
• Deluxe Combo
• Six Pack
• Breakfast
• BCB Bacon Cheeseburger
• El Jefe
• Double Cheese
• Cauliflower Crust Margherita
• Cauliflower Crust Sausage & Pepperoni

So what is Heggies new addition to that line-up? According to this Racket story by Jay Boller, Heggies just unveiled a new Italian Beef Pizza! The story says it's based on the traditional Italian beef sandwich, as new Heggies Italian Beef pizza features 'sliced beef, giardiniera, sweety drop peppers, mozzarella/provolone blend,' Racket noted.

The new Italian Beef Heggies is already showing up at grocery stores, breweries, and bars across Minnesota, Racket noted, a fact confirmed by this post from Take 16 Brewery, a craft brewery located in Luverne, Minnesota. They just posted a picture of Heggies new Italian Beef pizza on their Instagram page a few days ago:

Interestingly enough, Heggies new Italian Beef Pizza is so new, that there's no mention of it on their website or on any of their social media platforms. I'm going to stop off at my local grocery store on the way home and see if I can find one-- I can't wait to try it!
