Minneapolis (Learfield News Service) -  Cases of "sextortion" are on the rise in Minnesota.

It involves online predators exploiting minors on social media for sexually explicit images and chats.

US Attorney Erica McDonald is urging Minnesota parents to have "a really frank conversation" with their kids that anything they do online is open, and it's available to others and that any type of image or video they post isn't just out there for today or tomorrow, it's out there forever.

Twenty-year-old Dylan Deling of Fairmont pleaded guilty Thursday to using social media to extort girls between the ages of 11 and 17 for sexually explicit chats and images or videos.
