Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Announces Resignation
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Tim Walz will have an opportunity to appoint a Justice to the Minnesota Supreme Court next year.
Supreme Court Associate Justice David Lillehaug today announced he will not be seeking reelection next year and expects to resign at the end of next July. Lillehaug, in a statement issued by the Minnesota Court, explained he was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
“I have loved my six years of work on the Court and had planned to serve for a few more years. But my plan has changed because I have Parkinson’s disease. It’s at an early stage, it’s well-managed, and I feel great.”
Lillehaug was appointed to Minnesota’s highest court in 2013. He previously served as the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota.
